Found primarily in the aspen parkland and southern boreal forest.
Mid May to mid June.
Although somewhat variable, the heavy wing maculation of this Spilosoma is diagnostic. The forewing spots run together, and a postmedial line is usually visible.

This species if found from south-eastern Canada west to Alberta. An eastern species, which is absent from most of the western U.S.
