Brachionycha is a small genus (at least 4 species) of mainly Palearctic species. The adults are robust hairy spring-flying moths. The genus was recently defined and discussed by Poole (1995), who also illustrates the adults and genitalia of both sexes.
One species, B. borealis, occurs widely in and adjacent to the boreal forest of North America, east of the Rocky Mountains.
