identification
The head has a strong, transverse, postocular ridge and ocelli are present. Ocellar setae pairs 1 and 2 are in a line in front of the anterior ocellus, and ocellar setae pair 3 varies in position. Four pairs of well-developed postocular setae are present. The antennae are 8 segmented, with segment 6 having 1 or 2 sensoria with a base that is half as long as the segment. The pronotum has a median blotch of internal sclerotization, and while no setae are present on the margins of the pronotum, there are 2 pairs of setae near the anterior margin and one pair of major setae near the posterior angles of the pronotum (Mound and Marullo, 1996). Both the mesosternum and the metasternum have a furca with a spinula (Mound and Kibby, 1998). The anterior margin of the metasternum is weakly emarginate. The forewing has a complete row of setae on the forevein, and 0 to 2 setae near the apex of the hind vein. The lateral thirds of the abdominal tergites are covered with microtrichia, and each microtrichial field has a transverse row of 3 setae. The median setae present on tergites 1 to 5 are long and closely spaced, but are further apart on tergites 6 to 8. Each tergite has a posteromarginal comb of microtrichia except for the median tergites, which may have reduced combs, or combs may be absent (Mound and Marullo, 1996).
