scientific name    Tmetothrips subapterus    

Stellaria sp. (Chiasson 1986), Galium palustre (Mound et al 1976).


The body is dark brown with yellow tibiae and tarsi. The pronotum has 1 pair of posteroangular setae, and a second pair of setae that are approximately half as long. Lateral ctenidia are absent from the tergites, and tergite 8 lacks a comb of microtrichia. Accessory setae are absent from the sternites and the margins of the sternites are lobed between the marginal setae (Mound et al 1976).

Probably does not cause economically notable damage to crops (Hoebeke and Wheeler 1983).

Alberta (Chiasson 1986), widespread in central Europe (Mound et al 1976) including; Czechoslovakia, Finland, Russia, Holland, Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Lithuania, Rumania and Siberia (Jacot-Guillarmod 1974).
